Newburgh City Parks


North Street Triangle Park (at N. Plank Rd & Carpenter)
According to the 1929 Council Proceedings, the triangle was purchased for $2,500 from the Gibbs Brothers Realty Corp. for park purposes, as also recorded in the deed, filed July 16, 1929.

 

Liberty Street Triangle Park (at Water St/Leroy Place)
Charles J. Stones & his wife donated the triangle by deed filed March 31, 1925 "to be used perpetually as a park."

Forsyth Park (Forsyth Place at Leroy Place/MLK Drive)
Deeded to the City by George Brown and his wife, and John B. Corwin and his wife, on August 14, 1922 for the sole purpose of a public park and subject to the condition and restriction that said land shall never be used for any other purpose. Subsequently named Forsyth Park by Council. The Browns and Corwins also conveyed Forsyth Place to the City that year.

Montgomery Street Triangle Park (at Water St/MLK Drive)
In 1915, George W. Forsyth and Mary F. Wickes gave the land "to be used as a little resting park for that portion of the City."
