"FM Global's support will help us to increase our investigators' effectiveness, efficiency and versatility," Merritt explained. "It will allow us to begin collecting crucial data in the field and research pertinent background information at any particular crime scene. With FM Global's grant, we'll be better equipped to track down arson suspects and bring them to justice."
Because arson remains a leading cause of property loss worldwide, FM Global awards arson prevention grants quarterly to help fire service agencies purchase investigative tools and equipment, as well as support training initiatives and juvenile fire-setter programs in an effort to prevent arson. Since its inception in 1974, the FM Global arson prevention grant program has contributed more than $2 million worldwide to fire departments and related agencies that strive to prevent and control arson.
