The City of Newburgh Police Department is a modern-day, technically trained unit of eighty-eight sworn officers and sixteen non-sworn staff.
In 2007, officers handled 41,771 calls for service. This resulted in 5,224 arrests. The Department investigated 2 Homicides, 14 Rapes, 131 Robberies, 289 Aggravated Assaults, 316 Burglaries, 791 Larcenies and 69 Auto Thefts.
The City of Newburgh Police Department maintains several divisions including: Patrol, Investigative Services, Narcotics, Joint Crimes Task Force, Professional Standards, Crime Analysis, Community Resource Officers, Crime Scene Unit, Court Operations, Information Services, SWAT, SCUBA/Marine, Motorcycle Unit, Bicycle Unit, Animal Control, and Parking Enforcement.
