July 21 Hearings:

1. Parking on Front Street

Proposed Ordinance amends Section 288 to prohibit parking on Front Street from 4 to 8 am. Public hearing on July 21.

2. Verizon Cable Franchise

On July 21, the City Council will hear public comments concerning a Cable Franchise Agreement (pdf, 371K) with Verizon New York.

3. "Safe Streets Save Lives" (Curfew) Ordinance

City Council seeks the opinion of residents on the proposed curfew legislation. Specific comments are requested as to what hours the curfew should define and what ages of children should be subject to the curfew.

The following measures were recently adopted:

Rental Dwelling Registry

Rental Dwelling Registry legislation requires non-resident owners of rental properties to register rental dwellings with the city.

Vendors and Peddlers

The ordinance on Vendors and Peddlers (Chapter 223) also called Peddling and Soliciting, was updated in 2008.

Draft Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan

On June 16, 2008, the City Council adopted a Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan providing all-hazards management guidance for City actions before, during and after an emergency.

Taxi Cab Regulations

On Feb. 25, 2008, the City Council adopted new Taxi Regulations that go into effect in September.
