Save the Year!
Plans are under way to celebrate the 2009 anniversaries in the Newburgh Bay, the geographical "pivot point" of the achievements of Hudson, Fulton and Champlain.
The celebrating along the Hudson River Valley will include a parade of tall ships, smaller boat parades, bridge illumination, fireworks, history and exhibitions, concerts, reenactments, and much more.
Kick-Off Weekend - November 1-2, 2008
Newburgh Bay 2009 will kick off the regional celebration with a huge event-filled exciting weekend in 2008 – “4 Centuries in 48 Hours.”
The first week of November will offer public tours of the Half Moon, host steam-powered vessels, welcome Munsee Native Americans in conjunction with a SUNY Orange lecture series, and herald the homecoming visit of the only existing 1909 Newburgh ‘Frontenac’ automobile.
